Head Teacher Welcome

Whether you are one of the vast majority of Haydon School students who choose to stay on for Years 12 and 13 or you are considering joining us from elsewhere, the Sixth Form at Haydon is an exciting place to learn. Judged by Ofsted as outstanding in every respect, we offer an unrivalled combination of academic success, exciting opportunities, great facilities and a welcoming community.

Through excellent teaching and pastoral support from experienced staff, our Sixth Formers achieve strong examination results; these enable many of them to proceed to their first choice of degree course, with a significant number gaining a place at Oxbridge and other Russell Group universities.

Besides your studies, you will be able to take part in a wide range of extra-curricular activities, enrichment opportunities and community work that will not only provide camaraderie but will also enhance your UCAS application and employability. With new and attractive study and recreational areas and an excellent rapport between students and staff, Haydon’s Sixth Form provides a great springboard to your future career.

This is clearly borne out by our examination results. In 2016 The Year 13 A-Level and BTEC National results were excellent: 50% of grades were at A* to B and 72% at A* to C. The total number of students going to University in September 2016 currently stands at 182 including 55 to Russell Group Universities, the most challenging to get into. This is the highest figure in the last four years. In Year 12 the results were outstanding. The A to B at 39% gives the students a good platform on which to build.
